Ryan McGinley - The Kids Were Alright @ MCA Denver, CO

Above are portions of a Dan Colen piece titled, “Secrets and Cymbals, Smoke and Scissors (My Friend Dash’s Wall in the Future).” 

It's a recreation of Dash's bedroom made by Dan. While researching it I found a NY Times article saying that this is the kind of work Dan would have done had he "entered an MFA program." (BURN?) I still like it, it's really familiar to me. 

Clyfford Still Museum, Denver, CO

Seeing Clyfford Still's work at the PMA years ago was the first time I recognized an existential crisis in a painting (NOT in painting). Still's dedicated museum also had a great exhibition called, "No Sun" up about his work during the Great Depression, too (see image below).
